Making Money Online

In and around Las Vegas is back…

In the middle of last year, I had my blog/website http://www.inandaroundlasvegas.com up and running. I worked very hard on trying to bring my Readers information about free Events, cheap activities, concerts, reviews for Restaurants I personally enjoyed in the past and more. Boy was it going good and then suddenly one day I looked and my site was gone.

Server crashed and the company I was hosting with, disappeared. And being a nitwit, I didn't save what I had written and lost all the content. Lord was I disgusted with the folks running that server, with myself for being so silly and yes at all the time I had spend now wasted.

Not only was that sad, but lets face it, I had also lost the PR Rating which I tried so very hard to cultivate.

As much as I am trying to serve others and give them great information on a small budget, offer small local Businesses and Entrepreneurs a cheap way of showcasing themselves (my advertisements rates are extremely cheap at $25.00 for 3 months) on the Sidebars so it is always on the page for others to read, it also cut into my income.

Let's face it, like everyone else I have bills to pay and must bring in some sort of income from the work I was doing.

So the way I monetized this Venue, while doing something positive for the community and Readers at large, was Google Adsense (more on that in a minute), sales of Advertisement Space and Sponsorships from regular folks like you and me.

Now let's talk about Google Adsense for just a moment. I have had my account for almost 3 Years now, and I seem to be stuck at $95.75. The minimum payout is $100, talking about being frustrated! Sometimes I wonder if people are clicking the ads, and nothing is showing.

Recently I opened an account to post my own Google Adwords Advertisement Campaign for http://www.inandaroundlasvegas.com since I got a flyer in the postal mail for a $100 promotion. So I open my account, put some money on the books and try like crazy to add my promotional code. You know what, no way no how doable. You click open that little window only you can't get the full text, nor can you get to the part where to add the promotional code.

So just now when I was trying to copy and paste what I saw, I figured out what I had to do, seems that when you highlight it you can move it down and finally get to information you need to have.

So finally it is in, and now I have to wait a few Business Days to see if it will allow me to use my code. *Shakes head*. Somehow to me that is just not good Business Practice. They make it super easy to hand over your money, but give you tons of problems when you try to use a Promotion or to reach payout.

More on that later so again. A few thoughts on what you may be doing to have Google climb all over you, while trying to make some money.

Well wish me luck and do me a favor. If you are planning on visiting Las Vegas, take a look at what going on in and around Las Vegas. And if you have a website or blog and want to show me a little link love, send me an email to freelancewriterforhire@cox.net and as long as our Blogs /Websites match to make those link solid, I would be happy to exchange links with you. NO ADULT please. Sorry but doesn't fit into the family / couple friendly blog there.

Ciao for now!

A quick request and an offer – Join me for Adlove Monday.

Yes this is all about the almighty money.
I know most of us bloggers monetize our blogs with advertisements. Be it Google Ads, Adbrite Ads, Yahoo Ads etc. The premise is that not only are you getting qualified and unique traffic to your website, but you also have the good fortune to have your visitor click on one of your Ads to see where it may go.

I would like to suggest an Adlove Monday..

Here is how it works. On Monday I will start clicking on various Blogs and instead of only stopping in, dropping my Card, I will pick one of your Ads and let it take me where it goes. No purchase required. However here is the deal, I would like you to do the same for me. Is this illegal? I don't think so, after all you are still picking an Ad that has gotten your attention and it is not a driven spot.

You see my little greeting box here on the side? Good if you would like to participate and pass it around, then simply leave me a note before any Monday and simply wish me an ad-vantagous Monday. This way I know you want to play.

I will probably come up with a little Ad-vantagous Monday Badge soon you can take and put on your blog. But rememember that this only works for everyone if everyone plays fair.

So who would like to join me for tommorrows first Ad-vantagous Monday? Let's get some money going.

Thanks for reading.

A big challenge – Time Management … or there aren ‘ t enough hours in the day!

I don't know how many times I get up in the morning with the good intention to finish ALL the chores and "must get done" items on my list. I can even sit down at the crack of dawn (right after my husband leaves to go to work) over a cup of coffee and have a "staff meeting" with myself, noting down what has to be done, by what time and in which order.

Really that entire List making is not a problem for me! I am an absolute Pro at making useless lists all the time. The problem arises when it comes to sticking too it. You see Life seems to have different ideas quiet often then I do. Many times I get started on a task like writing Articles for Associated Content, Triond or one of the other dozens of little E-zines and Article collectives I sell my writing to. I sit down with my Research in hand, my short quotes for Article Ideas, my cup of Tea or bottle of water (writing is thirsty work) and get started. Usually right about the time I get really into writing what I wish to say, my phone rings and it is either a Telemarketer, a Caller from Niteflirt( Do not click this link if you are under 18 Years old or are offended by Adult Phone Lines – eh it makes others happy and helps me pay my bills), one of my "Friends" that has a problem or of course any combination there of. The point is that just as I get to the meat and potatoes of the Article, the really juicy bits that I can sink my teeth into, the Phone rings!
No problem right? Wrong! Yes it is, because now the flow is gone and that which could have been a Grade A wonderful Article will now slowly wind down its path of writing. In some cases I can't even find my thread at all and have to shift the priorities around to something else. Well there goes that one, because we all know that getting back to writing will more and likely not happen once my husband gets home.

I finally learned to shut off my Phones when cooking, since I ended up with entirely too many burned or less then delicious meals! There are never any calls until …you guessed it… I am in the middle of doing something that is important and I can't really walk away from. So finally I gave up and gave in! NO PHONES while I am cooking! My lines get shut down and to all others.. "Thanks for your interested! I am currently busy with my own problems, call again soon please!"

So writing is off my list, phones are worked and done, cooking – check! MY Blogs!!!! Oh no, I forgot to update my Blogs again! Yeah they are really going to take off that way! Well, ok the food is simmering over the stove top on low, my husband is happily killing some enemy on his Computer Game ( Pouts I want to play for a while too) and I guess I could log into the Chat Room for my Submissives, listen to another educational tape on the PC while writing the Blog Entries!
(Quick insertion here…. sometimes I really get envious of his Game time! Not because he games, but because I don't ever seem to get to game! I am constantly working!…Humms ..Money, Money, Money from Abba to her-self)

But where to start? Well ReginaSunderland needs an update, my 7 or 8 mature blogs need updating and "OH NO! I forgot to film again today and edit the clip! I still haven't exercised yet either and I guess I better stir the food real quick!"

Goes to check on the food, comes back and starts writing a blog update at which point it is time for Dinner (6:30pm) and time for my husband and me to catch up about the day, unless of course he is stuck in his Game in which case I have another 30 minutes or so to just finish up.
Oh did I mention that I started work at about 5 am?

Finally it is time I get to take my bath, relax and read a chapter in my current book, change into either something sexy for my hubby (if we aren't both too tired to even bother with that extra little fun) or something comfy if we just want to snuggle up! Time for a Movie before Bed right about 8 pm…

He watches the Movie, I think of what I left undone for the day and make mental notes of what still needs done. Usually about 10 to 12 more items. Finally he rolls around on his side and starts snoring and I either join the concert or can't shut off my mind, give up and get up to work throughout the night until he gets up in the morning. Eh 4 am comes quickly! (Our time to get up) at which I see him out the front door and curl up to sleep until about 8 am … start all over again!

Now Time Management is for me a big problem personally. I have it planned out alright, but I just never seem to have enough of that one particular ingredient… Time!

OH and for those of you new to the entire Game of working from your own home, making your own hours, trying to find your own work etc. I bit of advice if I may….
In the beginning (about the first 3 – 5 Years) until you set up your good repeat clients, your good working networks, you reasonable advertisements etc plan on working for FAR BENEATH minimum wage. I work an average of about 80 a Week on various Venues and with the Economy as "wonderful" (that was sarcasm in case you missed it) as it currently is and may be yet for a while to come, I am lucky if I clear about $300 a week. Lately it has been below even that.

So make certain that at least one of the members of your Household is working a regular job with a steady income or have a sizeable nest egg set aside before you get started!

Oh and if anyone has some advice on how to manage time when you always seem to run out of it… I am all ears!

A serious Wake up call – checking your blog / Website with SEO Tools

If you have been patient with me and have stuck my erratic
posting out, you may have seen my recent post about my 10
New Years Resolutions for 2009
. On spot number 5 I have placed (quote) Turn
this Blog into a good source of Income by the End of 2009. With good
information and plenty of updates. I hope to have this Blog push its way at
least onto the 2nd Page on Google Search. (end quote)

I may have a lot to learn, and after today’s wake up following
some rank checking, link relevancy and popularity checking that is no longer a
question, but I do know that to accomplish this particular goal I have a long hard
road to travel.

Today was my “OUCH DAY” as I call it. That is the day when I
sit back and put my work through different free SEO checks, which you can
usually find using free trials on the various Websites dealing with the various
issues you may run into.

The Website I used was: https://buildtraffic.net.
They offer you a 5 day free trial for their services, which I am intending to
use to the fullest.

Judging by Google Adsense Income (which is at best an extremely
slow trickle) I knew that improvements needed to be made. Keyword optimization
is not easy for me either, considering I never quiet seem to be able to work my
words around the most used current keywords of the internet lists. I know that
in order to drive traffic to my Blog, this may just be a skill that I need to
cultivate.

Social Networking is a great way to get your name out, but
in the end it can often turn more into a time frame nightmare then a positive
outcome. With so many social networking sites, you can often spend hours just
publishing your various Blog Posts and Articles. I have found that even with
the best possible time management on my end, my days are still too short to
accomplish everything it takes to get all my Blogs updated and pushed.

Multiple Blogs and the pinging services can cause another
slight problem at times. I have noticed that some Blog Directories will log you
out or “blacklist” you is you publish too many Blogs from the same IP Address,
mistaking it as a spamming attempt of sorts. I am certain that this is not the
correct technical term, but I hope you understand what I am trying to convey.

I am still trying to work many of the logistics out as well.
Being a student of doing rather then reading can make this process rather
difficult for me as well. There is a lot of wonderful and very insightful
literature available about making money online, monetizing and maintaining a
successful Blog and more. The problem however appears that either the
information is outdated as soon as it is published, with the constant advance
on the internet and software programming or as in my personal case I simply can
not follow along well enough to utilize what it says.

The SEO testing I did today however did give me some
valuable advice which I am currently trying to test out. Mostly the basics like
length of Title 3 – 14 Words, Description length and strength of keyword
density etc. Having a mixed bag however poses another obstacle on this. With so
many subjects covered, how do you narrow it down to fit the requirement for
better positioning?

Learning more about Google Ranking is rather an interesting
subject as well. I have always thought that a larger number of incoming links
to your website or blog is a good way to push forward in the Search Engines,
however after some reading today I found out that some “vanity” links can
actually harm your rating.

Alexa Search Engine obviously can easily be influenced as
well by simply downloading their Toolbar and using it. As one of the Articles I
read today stated, it makes Alexa less then reliable.

Well that is enough for one day I am sure. To most of you
this will appear like a bunch of Kindergarten learning, but I do hope that to
other beginners it will be a little bit of “chin up” you are not alone!

Thank you for reading and I will post again soon!

In my previous parenting advice article I mentioned the importance of healthy family relationships not only between parent and child, but between the parents as well.
