Laughter is good for the soul

Time for a laughter break, funnies, humor

The most embarrassing moment in 2011 writing challenge – my Story.

I hate being rushed! Of course there is a good reason for this, usually when I am rushed I end up forgetting something extremely important. In this case it was two things I forgot which really put the clincher on the day for me.

I was running out of time and had to make it to the store at last moment before my company was due to arrive. Of course it couldn’t have been just a couple of items either. Oh no, I needed a few special food items for my impending guests since they were vegetarian while I am a proud meat eater. Well needless to say, I was under prepared since they had just given me the notice of their “surprise visit” due in an hour.

Out of the door I ran and walked in a brisk walk to the closest Market. I almost flew through the aisles gathering the things I needed and came to the checkout counter being slightly out of breath with well over 30 items.

As the Cashier was ringing the items up a line started forming behind me. It never fails, when you are about to embarrass yourself you are going to have an audience. I received the grand total, opened my purse and ….

Yup you guessed it my wallet was still nice and snug at home on my writing desk where I had left it after making an online purchase. Talking about my face being as red as a tomato and to my horror I didn’t even bring my cell phone with me so I could call my husband to bring me some money.

Needless to say the people in line behind me were none to happy with me and being forced to wait for the cashier to cancel the order.

When I arrived back home my guests were already there, waiting outside the front door with the air of long suffering. “We told you we were on our way!” Julie announced loud enough for my neighbors to hear clearly. I just swallowed and said to her turning even redder approximately the color of a fire truck. “Well if you think that is bad you will really hate it when I tell you that I just forgot to take my wallet with me to the grocery store to get you something to eat.  I need to go back. Someone give me a ride down there?”

I hurried inside the house, grabbed my wallet and cell. When I got back to the store and after I gathered my items together again my luck sure held. The only Cashier on duty was the same lady who had checked me out before. When she recognized me, she asked with a smirk. “Want to make sure you brought some money this time before I get started again?” I hung my head and held up my money… “I think we are good!”

Yes, there is a reason I hate to be rushed and now you know why!

No thank you, I don’t want a spam-affair!

I have no idea why people keep insisting on sending spam to those of us who spend hours upon hours trying to write good information. This really reminds me of the kids in school who simply copied from everyone elses papers to slide by. Not attractive I tell you!

Now I do appreciate the lovely comments I receive ever so often from some of the sweetheart spammers out there, and I would probably even fall for them IF I didn’t own about 26 Blogs. To use another analogy – copy and paste spamming no matter how sweet is like those really tired pick up lines drunks with no imagination use on women in bars. They are only amusing so long, before you can start residing them by heart.

Oh and what about those darling little spam comments with the list of up to 30 freaking links to porn sites on them. The newest one actually started out with: “I am sorry I want to eat!” Now if that doesn’t break your heart, the poor schmuck is now forced to peddle his really bad porn affiliations via spam posts on FAMILY BLOGS where younger viewers may read as well. :( Not only is this distasteful, but really sad to start with. I have no problems with adult entertainment – heck I am a fetish writer and Mistress myself – but I keep it away from my family oriented blogs! Let’s show some respect please!

Lately I have actually started turning spam deleting into some sort of a personal game. I try to guess who the originator of the first spam message is (because they usually work in groups or with bots which spam the same message repeatedly on the same blog and any other they can find) and try to imagine just what this person may look like and be doing at that moment.

At the moment I am partial to the thought that it is some slobby super duber sized guy or woman, one finger up his nose to keep his mind on track (out of boredom) and surrounded by an endless supply of caned spam. Maybe with someone standing behind them and threatening to feed them all of the spam in the room if they don’t spam a gazillion blogs a day. (shudders)

So anyways, dear spam monsters, I am honored by your continuing efforts to court me and my many blogs, but we must respectfully decline. I am just not interested in pursuing a spam affair at this moment. Try me again next lifetime! :P

Join me for a cup of coffee and a smile this morning

Hello cyberworld,

it has been a very interesting day yesterday and one which left me glowing with happy feelings. Since you are so often the recipient of my more down to earth and gloomy musings, I thought it is about time you get to deal with me on a giggle factor.

But first the promised coffee. Holds out her freshly brewed coffee pot and points to the empty mugs on the counter. Sugar and Cream are right next to it. Fill up the cup and bring it to me, I will pour the rich and wonderful java.

Now that we are set let me tell you what made me so bouncy, flouncy, full of fun. (Yes, yes I know I borrowed from Tigger this morning).

#1 I am going to be an Auntie! Woot woot, hurray, bring out the fanfares and all that jazz. My best friends (yes they are a couple) just found out that she (I call her my spiritual sister) is having her first Baby. Now that is super exciting! Yes, they want the Baby. Yes, he is happy and not just pretending to be. Yes, she is excited as well. I think we were screaming for joy for good 5 minutes on the phone yesterday. So hurray and woot woot…..We are having a Baby, we are having a Baby..Well they are, but I get to be excited with them.
(Imp, Alley Cat let that be a warning for you. If Mom gets this excited about becoming an Aunt, what you think is going to happen when she becomes a Grandmo?)

#2 My Son called me out of the blue after I don’t know how many months and oh boy was it good to hear his voice. Bless the Tuna Casserol – he needed Mom’s recipe. Eh I take any excuse to talk to my kids as a good one. Chuckles. Talking to Babies (rolls eyes yes I know you are all grown up now guys) makes Mommy happy. Woot woot…Yeah!!!

#3 I reconnected with an old friend and had a lovely conversation on the phone with “her”. Nice to hear familiar voices, I have been way too cut off lately for my own good.

See I had good reasons to be hyper today! Happy hyper that is. In the meantime – business as usual in the household. I am up early, already bathed and dressed and fighting with my computer which is trying to drive me nuts by shutting itself off constantly. Not sure what is going on since this is the second computer in less than one month doing this to me now.

I am starting to wonder if I am sending electrical impulses through the wiring. If I am, it better stop. A girl has to work somehow.

Now since it is so nice an early – somewhere around 5:30 am – and I am already full of piss and vinegar as they say, I might as well get a headstart on my agenda today.

What is in the works you wonder? Well I have over 30 items to photograph for my craft stores and list (if the computer doesn’t crash again), I am planning on finishing my new Website I started yesterday and hopefully I will get a chance to work on some of my writing today. I am truly overdue with my Magazine and a couple of books I promised to put out.

Good part on being a selfpublication Author, the only deadline you have to work against is your own. I guesss you have to look for the blessings where you can find them. Talking about blessings and than I am gone for today. I wrote a post about Silence and the law of attraction the other day – click here to read it - since several people I have been speaking to are getting the law of attraction confused with positive thinking. Law of attraction is not exclusive to positive thought, there is more to that story. Go ahead have another coffee and read the Article.

So dear Readers, what is on your agenda today? Anything special going on in your life? If yes, I want to know. Share it with us if you feel comfortable. You know the drill….link to your blog post from the comment box or simply type the exciting news into the comment box itself. I love hearing from you.

Something slightly painful to listen to but funny to get you in the mood for Thanksgiving

For those of us in the United States the first of our official glutton Holidays is coming up. Yes, folks it is that time of year, when we pack on the pounds, put an extra nudge into our pants and hope we can work it off after the New Year.

I am talking of course about Thanksgiving, the offical gubble gubble day. I have personally been off a little about the whole thanksgiving feasting this year. Normally by now I would have my Turkey stuffed in the freezer and a long list of what I need for Pies, side dishes etc.

But for me this year, it really just isn’t so important. I normally spend it with those I love and who love me in return. This year…

So in order to kick myself into my own chubby ass and get the Thanksgiving mood, I went youtube surfing for something to make me smile. This is the song that made me both laugh and want to hold my ears shut. So without further ado…

Men love to play with kitchen utensils

Men love to play with kitchen utensils, at least a lot of the ones I deal with do! It is always said that cooking is a woman’s job, but have you ever noticed that most of the famous chefs are men?

Sometimes there is just nothing better then getting your hands on some high quality kitchen utensils and get down right dirty with them. Isn’t that true darlings? I know cooking with my boys relaxes and amuses me.

Go ahead, invite your man into the kitchen sometime and see what the both of you can “cook up” together. Just a little reminder for all of you married men and women out there that “love” and “lust” does have a place in the kitchen as well.

Get an ostensible free in every box!

Get an ostensible free in every box!

So what exactly am I assume that I get assumingly free in every box? Have you ever noticed how some advertisers really can offer you a lot of nothing for your good money.

I know that an ostensible is another word for apparent, assuming, professed and several more. My question is: “Is there such a thing as an “ostensible” and if yes what exactly is it?

Is it a sweater for an ostrich maybe? Maybe it is a very questionable vehicle? MMM, anyone know?

So your challenge for today dear Readers is to make up what an “ostensible” might be.

Please leave your amusing responses in the comment box. Let’s see who comes up with the best Idea. Good luck!

Time for a laughter break – animals

Time for a laughter break – funny commercials

It’s time for a music break today!

Good morning my friends,

you have been working very hard all week either from your home, at your job or maybe even looking for a job. I belief you deserve a little break now. My favorite way to relax for a short period of time is by enjoying some of my favorite music. Music has a way of touching the soul, of making your entire body come to life and tingle. Oh yes, it is fair to say that your body humms to music almost constantly. Did you know that your body is naturally hard wired for vibrational sounds which are all around you at all times?

Some of my all time favorite music is in the Blues category. I love listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, The Moody Blues and several others along that vein. Today I would like to invite you to take a listen to some of my favorite music MP3′s and who knows you might just want to add them to your collection as well.

So turn off the phone, kick back and click on the widget below. Come on my friends, join me in this little musical break on a Friday morning, just in time to kick off the weekend.

  • Family relationships between Parents and Parent / Child
In my previous parenting advice article I mentioned the importance of healthy family relationships not only between parent and child, but between the parents as well. Many parents have an overly “moralistic” view on what is appropriate in front of their children and what is not. They consider the simple and normal act of holding […]

  • Children don’t come with an instruction booklet!
I would like to talk about parenting for a moment and it really doesn’t matter if that means in a two parent household, a one parent household, or an alternative lifestyle household. The results are always the same, it is one hell of a learning curve. No matter how many children you have already had […]

  • Vampyre’s among us – no really!
Before you think I have suddenly gone off the deep end, let me explain to you that I am not talking about the fictional Hollywood style Vampires or even pranic Vampyres, nor about those who are living with a very real illness called Porphyria. I am talking about emotional Vampyres – people who just by their […]

Take it from a “recovering” workaholic the prize you have to pay for being stuck in your workaholic patterns is too high to continue on. A lot of us who have the workaholic gene in us don’t even realize what we are doing. We often confuse it with being responsible, just doing what we need […]
